PUE as low as 1.146! Envicool Powers Efficient Operation of Beijing’s “Future AI Factory” Computing Hub

In March 2025, the Beijing Digital Economy Computing Power Center, an E-level intelligent computing center located in Jiuxianqiao, Beijing, officially went into operation. With a computing scale of 1,000P and a PUE as low as 1.146, the center integrates multiple advanced temperature control solutions from Envicool.

Positioned as the computing hub of the "Future AI Factory," this project is part of Beijing’s“Three 100s” key initiatives. It delivers computing support to sectors such as artificial intelligence, big data, smart healthcare, and intelligent transportation. Since its launch, the center has already attracted numerous large AI models for training deployment.

Envicool provided comprehensive cooling systems for the center, including XMint high-efficiency evaporative cooling composite multi-split air conditioners, XRow high-efficiency in-row air conditioners, CyberMate inverter CRAC, ensuring energy-efficient, safe, and reliable temperature control for high-performance computing workloads.

To tackle the core challenges of high power density and energy consumption in data centers, Envicool developed a three-pronged thermal management solution based on the XMint:

Extended Utilization of Natural Cooling Sources: By integrating direct refrigerant evaporation with ambient natural cooling, the system minimizes redundant heat exchange, significantly reducing compressor runtime.

Energy Efficiency with Magnetic Levitation Technology: Equipped with high-efficiency magnetic levitation centrifugal compressors, the system drastically cuts energy consumption for supplemental cooling—critical to achieving and maintaining the impressive PUE of 1.146.

Flexible Deployment Across Complex Scenarios: A combination of in-row and room-level cooling units enables precise adaptation to the varying demands of main and auxiliary data halls, delivering both thermal stability and energy savings.

XMint stands out for its high-efficiency cooling, decentralized cold source architecture, and flexible configuration, offering substantial benefits in water conservation, energy savings, and spatial efficiency. The system has been repeatedly recognized with Data Center Technology Innovation Awards and is included in several provincial and municipal low-carbon technology promotion catalogs.

The project also employs XRow in-row air conditioners, which deliver cooling directly at the heat source with dynamic temperature equalization, precise humidity control, and high energy efficiency. Additionally, CyberMate inverter CRAC units use DC inverter technology for responsive load-matching, ensuring uniform room temperatures. To further boost seasonal efficiency, the center incorporates Envicool’s self-developed XFreeCooling system, an advanced variable-frequency pneumatic heat pipe solution, enabling optimized free cooling during transitional seasons.

As the thermal foundation of China’s computing power infrastructure, Envicool lives its mission of “More Than Cooling” by delivering end-to-end, customer-centric solutions—from design and deployment to ongoing operation and maintenance.

Today, Envicool’s high-efficiency cooling solutions serve a wide range of large-scale data centers across China, spanning eight major national computing hubs: the Yangtze River Delta, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Greater Bay Area, Chengdu-Chongqing, Inner Mongolia, Guizhou, Gansu, and Ningxia. Key projects include the Shanghai Lingang AI Computing Center, Guangzhou Next-Gen Liquid Cooling Data Center, and Wuhan Digital Valley Big Data Hub, all of which exemplify the nation’s push toward a greener, more intensive computing ecosystem.
